CaRMAA Tournament Results

Congratulations to twenty-six of our fellow students who competed in the forks and breaking CaRMAA tournament in East Greenbush on Saturday, November 7th.  Each represented their school in great fashion, winning or not.  Thanks to all of you the local food pantry benefited greatly due to all of your contributions.  The friendships forged during these events help bond fellow students together within our school and within the CaRMAA group as a whole.  We all had a great time and gained valuable experiences for future events.  If you missed this opportunity and want to compete in forms or sparring, look forward to February 6th at Hudson Valley Community College for the AAU Regional Qualifier.

Forms and Board Breaking

Several students from the school will be participating in this year’s CARMAA tournament.  Last year many of our students brought home trophies.  Come down and cheer them on as they seek to continue their tradition of success.

Nov. Color Belt Test

beltsThe color belt test for November will be held on November 21st, 2009 at 9 am.

Participants should remember to bring their sparring gear if they are testing for Yellow-I and above.

This will be a large test so make sure you come early enough to change, stretch and prepare.

Check with the office to make sure you have in all of your classes and you’re ready to test.

Nov. Black Belt Test

The November black belt test will be held on November 20th, 2009 at 5PM.  We have a number of students testing for black belt, come out and support them!

Tae Kwon Do on the Beach

Our annual Tae Kwon Do on the beach was held on September 26th, 2009 during the Moreau Lake Nature Fest.

This year we had more than 40 students show up to enjoy the sand, sun, blue skies and beautiful Fall weather.

In between the forms, kicks and punches we enjoyed goodies from the informal back sale, which benefited out booster club.

A great time was had by all, we hope to see you there next year!

Moreau Fun Days 2009

On August 8th, 2009 dozens of students participated in a demonstration at Moreau Fun Days at Moreau Park.  The weather was beautiful and the demonstration drew a large crowd.

Spectators were treated to some fantastic kicks, punches, forms, weapons and breaking demos.

Photos from the 2009 Break-a-thon are available for viewing. These photos were taken by Wendy Voorhis of Focus Photography. If you would like to order copies of any of these photos you can contact Wendy at 518-798-4672.

Annual Break-a-Thon

abkick-500px

Our next event is the annual Break-a-Thon on June 6th, 12pm to 2pm. Come encourage us and contribute to a good cause, The Open Door Mission, as we punch and kick through 2009 boards. There will be great food and raffle items available for spectators, and you never know what cool stunts you might see… last year there were flaming tiles involved!

Glens Falls Tae Kwon Do’s car wash was a rousing success, raising $400 for The Open Door Mission in Hudson Falls.

Kids splashed, splattered and scrubbed their way around over 50 cars and even a tractor trailer.

Thank you to the sign makers, sign holders (all of whom dodged the traffic successfully), the car washers (who didn’t manage to dodge the soap and water), the food makers, and all the people who jumped in to do other jobs.

As you can see by the photos, a good time was had by all! This was a great demonstration of Glens Falls Tae Kwon Do’s commitment to giving back to the community while providing a fun experience for kids.

car-washGlens Falls Tae Kwon Do will have a car wash at 1706 Saratoga Road (Route 9), just South of Mr. Bill’s, on May 30th from 10 a.m to 2.pm. to benefit the GFTKD Booster Club.

Cost per vehicle is $5 but donations of larger amounts will be gladly accepted.

The Booster Club assists students by providing funds to participate in tournaments.
