Kind Words

“The owners/instructors are warm and welcoming and make you feel like family.
The teaching methodology encourages each student to grow at his/her own pace.
The mindset change that I saw occur with my child was very positive.
Friendships, both for the students and parents that observe, last forever!”

“My daughter has been a student at Glens Falls Tae Kwon Do for 5 years. During this time, she has developed physically in martial arts technique, self-defense, overall physical conditioning, balance, and flexibility. Along with these physical components, she has also developed leadership, interpersonal skills, discipline, empathy, and respect, among many other attributes. Alongside specific Tae Kwon Do content, these attributes are woven into the curriculum at Glens Falls Tae Kwon Do. I have had several adults comment to me how poised my daughter is when speaking in public, teaching other adults or children at Tae Kwon Do, babysitting, or just leading in general.  I can say that so much of this poise and confidence was developed and fostered at Tae Kwon Do. She started leading warm-ups for Tae Kwon Do classes and teaching other students at age 9. When she goes to Tae Kwon Do, she is a respected part of a loving, supportive community that gives back to others. The MacDonald Family is loving and supportive, encouraging all students and supporting families of students in any way that they can. We cannot say enough good about Glens Falls Tae Kwon Do.  Our family has truly enjoyed the impact of these wonderful people on all our lives!”

“Tae Kwon Do classes have been very beneficial for my 11 year old granddaughter. She has learned that with practice she can achieve almost anything, and she has become more self-disciplined and confident. I believe the owners/instructors are beautiful role models and mentors.”

“I originally went to GFTKD to sign my kids up for classes and ended up joining as well. Best decision ever! As a parent, every value you are trying to instill in your kids will be reinforced at GFTKD. As an individual, the supportive community here has improved every aspect of my physical and mental health. I have a saying – “You are only one TKD class away from a better mood.”  I highly recommend GFTKD!”

“You are not going to meet anyone better than the MacDonalds; that is a promise! Our family’s journey began right after the COVID shutdown, when things began to open up again. It started with a random phone call to the GFTKD office. I spoke with Mrs. MacDonald and asked if there were “adult only beginner classes?” To which Mrs. Mac replied “No, there are not.” I thanked her and was about to hang up the phone when she said, “I want you to know; when you are in the dojang, age doesn’t matter. When you are here, you are a martial artist, not an age or a rank. Everyone from white belts to the black belts follow the same set of rules of discipline and respect.” We were invited to observe a class to see what we thought. We went the next night to watch a class and almost 3 years later we are still hooked! The dojang is our second home. Everyone, from the 6 year olds just starting out to the adults and every age in between, has been amazing to work with. The MacDonalds and all of the instructors here have taught me far more than just Tae Kwon Do. Through their support, everlasting patience and guidance, I have become a stronger person, both physically and mentally.  On behalf of my husband, my daughter and myself, we are so grateful for our TKD family at GFTKD.”

“We have felt so welcomed at Glens Falls Tae Kwon Do.  Everyone is always willing to answer questions and set our minds at ease as we navigate everything for the first time. The flexible class schedule fits well into our busy and sometimes unpredictable family life. Our son has blossomed under the personalized attention of the instructors and he is excited to practice in ways we haven’t seen with other activities. He grows more confident each month and is learning self-control and perseverance with every session at GFTKD!”

“I started Tae Kwon Do when I retired at sixty-one years old. I have been doing it for ten years. It is physically and mentally challenging but very rewarding.
The MacDonalds are great mentors and very supportive. They continue to reassure me and help me to progress in Tae Kwon Do. I will soon be testing for my third degree black belt. My goal is to reach fourth degree, master level. Tae Kwon Do has been an integral part of my life.  One of my fondest memories was when I broke my first board. I had told Kwanjanim that I couldn’t do it. Guess what! I did. It really surprised me.  If you are thinking of trying Tae Kwon Do, go for it here at GFTKD! It can help in so many ways.”

“I have been a student at Glens Falls Tae Kwon Do for 20 years. There is a strong sense of community that supports the learning for children and adults. It is unique to have a martial arts school where children, parents, and grandparents train alongside of each other. The school has produced both national medalists and Junior Olympic medalists. If you are looking for a martial arts school that provides opportunities to train hard and have fun, Glens Falls Tae Kwon Do is the school for you.”

“Like Alice in Wonderland, I started my Tae Kwon Do journey on the other side of the glass – in the lobby, watching my two boys after they signed up for the summer program.  It wasn’t long before I was tired of watching and decided to join in!  Well, my sons have long since stopped but I’m still here.  It was the best decision ever.  Tae Kwon Do keeps me moving and challenges my brain and my body.  It’s pretty much a guarantee that I will leave the dojang feeling better than when I entered, even if my muscles might disagree, lol.  The best part is having fun with my Tae Kwon Do family, in and out of the dojang, and watching the goofy, giggling kids grow into mature confident teens and young adults.”

“Joining Tae Kwon Do as a family was the best decision we have made. TKD has created so many wonderful memories together. It created time together that we would not have experienced otherwise. We chatted in the car together about our day on the ride there and then discussed what we learned on the ride home. We were learning things in class that we practiced at home together. We even competed in tournaments individually and as a family. We cheered each other on through the process. We had a common activity that created a bond to each other that we would not have had otherwise.
Tae Kwon Do promotes physical fitness, flexibility and endurance. This is a benefit to everyone no matter what age you are. It teaches the importance of self-control, focus and attention. Children are encouraged to do well in school and be respectful and helpful at home. Being the same positive person in all parts of your life is the goal for everyone.
Tae Kwon Do promotes a positive energy and encourages everyone to respect one another. When you walk in, you feel welcome and you can leave the stresses of the day behind and focus on bettering yourself. We have made lifelong friendships with amazing people through being at Glens Falls Tae Kwon Do. This is a very special place.”

“I would like to say what a change I have seen in my daughter since joining GFTKD around a year or so back. She is overcoming her shyness and making friends.  Since starting Tae Kwon Do, she has also joined chorus, band and lacrosse and seems to really enjoy all of her activities.  She is an only child, and Tae Kwon Do has helped her to leave her shyness shell and advance socially, and it’s such a blessing to see. Thank you all for all you do for everyone. Just watching what my daughter has accomplished in such a short time makes me one proud dad.”
